How To Measure Yourself

One of the most important aspects of purchasing a wedding dress, whether online or in a bridal shop, is correct measurements. Although tailoring is usually necessary for a perfect fit, getting the gown as close to perfect as possible will insure the best final results. We suggest having a professional take your measurements for you. This is also a good opportunity to find the tailor that will adjust your gown once you receive it. If you cant get to a tailor before you order your gown, have a friend help you.

  1. Bust: Take the bust measurement at the fullest part of the bust while wearing a bra. Be sure that the measuring tape is tight against your body, but not so tight that it pinches.
  2. Waist: The waist measurement should be taken at the smallest part of your middle, about 1" above your belly button. Again, make sure the tape measure is tight against your body.
  3. Hip: The hip measurement should be taken at the fullest part of your hips (over your bottom).
